1861 40 centimes Empire Non Dentele cover from from Bayonne

The cover was mailed to Vigo in the Pontevedra province of Spain. This is my first international cover. The Petite Chiffres is 295.

The stamp does not show meaningful plate wear.

Here is the back.

As with all commercial mail of the time, there is an accounting note.

Here is the Spanish receipt mark.

The letter is in Spanish, although there are words that are not in modern Spanish.

My dear Sir,
I have duly received your always welcome letter dated the 18th of the current month—crossing with mine of the 16th—the contents of which I hereby confirm.
I have taken careful note of your order and will endeavor to dispatch it at the earliest opportunity.
Instead of 12 large barrels, if possible, I will send you 40 standard ones—each containing the net weight of a regular block of pitch—though in that case, the price would increase slightly due to the cost of the cooperage. In any event, you may rely on me to arrange matters in the manner best suited to your interests.
As requested in your aforementioned letter, I set forth below the current exchange rates on Madrid, San Sebastián, etc.
I will bear in mind your other instructions regarding the shipment.
Having nothing further to add for today, I remain at your service.
Yours very truly,
[Signed]
